In 2016, our client International IDEA launched the Global State of Democracy Initiative. Since then, it has produced biannual analyses of democratic trends and developments worldwide, in-depth reports, an Indices platform and a Global Covid-19 Monitor.
We were commissioned to develop a comprehensive web platform for this initiative. It tracks quantitative and qualitative data on the state of democracy of 173 countries on a comprehensive set of 5 attributes and 16 sub-attributes. Needless to mention, this is more relevant than ever with a war against the free world raging in Eastern Europe in an increasingly authoritarian world. The platform and the research team behind the initiative aim to be the epitome of comprehensive, reliable and objective reporting on the state of democracy worldwide.
For us, it is a complex and challenging project on multiple levels: from good UX design to developing user-friendly content and data management systems based on a hybrid of Drupal and Laravel. The country profiles, for example, need to be informative and attractive and bring the monthly trend reports and updates to all 173 countries in an easy way. It brings out the best in our team and we love a good challenge!
The launch of the platform is planned after the summer.
