Dutch adventurer Wiebe Wakker completes longest ever electric car trip

After 3 years and 95.000km, Dutchman Wiebe Wakker has completed the worlds longest ever electric car trip, traveling from The Netherlands to Australia all by car.

Leaving the Netherlands and arriving at his final destination of Australia with nothing but a suitcase and an electric Volkswagen (nicknamed ‘The Blue Bandit’) Wiebe’s travels have been powered by electricity and stranger’s kindness.

Wiebe’s Plug Me In project has been an undoubted success. The project essentially involved people plotting his course on his website and offering 3 ways of helping: a meal, a place to stay and somewhere to charge his vehicle. Keen eyed observers will remember that Poet Farmer Kuala Lumpur hosted Wiebe Wakker during the Malaysian leg of his journey back in 2017.

We are proud to have been a part of Wiebe’s journey and fully advocate his efforts for a more sustainable, eco-friendly energy future for our world.

To Wiebe, congratulations, good luck and god speed!
